101 Commute Update

So there was a little bit of excitement (and thousands of hits) over the last few days here related to Google’s big black buses slowing down the fast lane. They even responded and promised to curb the practice. So what actually happened? Was 101 a better place to be?

On Wednesday, the commute (both ways) was great. Not a single bus in sight, plus traffic flowed better than normal. Today however was a different story. The big board’s time to highway 92 was 38 minutes! On a good day the board says 12 minutes and seems to average about 16 minutes. I began thinking that we may have destroyed traffic, but apparently there was an accident involving a bus–a Greyhound bus. No black bus sightings on the way home, so no way to check if the left lane is now free of buses.
